International Bariatric Surgical Registry

The purpose of the International Bariatric Surgery Registry (IBSR) is to promote optimum care of patients undergoing surgical treatment of severe obesity. Surgeons, hospitals and biomedical corporations have a vested interest in patient outcome analysis and assessment of medical treatment effectiveness. Development of the centralized IBSR data base has provided standardized clinical data collection and analysis. Results are used to study patient selection, practice variation, and operative techniques in surgical treatment of obesity.
