Long-term Care

The Long-Term Care Program at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Care Center provides high-quality care for residents requiring around-the-clock professional nursing care.

Care Team

The team includes:

Medicine
Medical services are provided by specialized and experienced Johns Hopkins Medicine physicians, including licensed geriatricians, geriatric fellows and mid-level practitioners. Residents also have immediate access, as needed, to the specialists and services at the adjacent Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Nursing
Nursing care is provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week by licensed and certified staff. All members of the nursing staff have received specialized technical training. Experienced patient care managers oversee and organize the care and treatment of residents.

Rehabilitation
Licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists are available as needed. Our therapists conduct assessments and identify goals to help the resident return to his or her highest possible functional level.

Therapeutic Recreation
Therapeutic recreation includes activities to promote social, spiritual, emotional and physical well-being. The recreation staff provides individual and group services to increase independence and enhance quality of life.

Clinical Nutrition
Dietitians assess the nutritional requirements of all residents upon admission and then provide ongoing counseling for special diets. Dietitians help monitor each resident’s weight and meal consumption. Residents’ food preferences are of special concern to our dietitians. Alternatives to the menu and buffet dining are offered to increase meal satisfaction.

Social Work
Families are able to meet with social workers to discuss care planning and care requests. Psychological support is available to promote emotional well-being and guidance as needed. Grief counseling is offered to residents and family members who have recently experienced a loss.
