Ventilator Patient Rehabilitation

The Ventilator Patient Rehabilitation Program is designed to decrease or eliminate the need for mechanical ventilation for patients with long-term respiratory failure.
 

Care Team

Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team of highly trained health care professionals who develop an individualized treatment plan with input from patients and their families.

The team includes:

  • Internal medicine and geriatric medicine physicians
  • Pulmonary medicine specialists
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Nursing staff
  • Physical therapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Social workers
  • Speech-language pathologists
  • Therapeutic recreation staff
  • Dietitians
     

Admission Criteria

  • 18 years and older
  • Referred by a physician
  • Have a tracheostomy
  • Medically stable
     

We treat:

  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Emphysema
  • Asthma
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Guillain-Barre syndrome
  • Other respiratory conditions
  • Other neurological conditions
