Biography

Majd AlGhatrif, M.D., earned a medical degree at the University of Damascus School of Medicine in Syria. He completed a research fellowship in cardiovascular aging at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston, TX. Following his research fellowship, Dr. AlGhatrif finished a residency in internal medicine at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, MD, where he also served as a chief resident. During his residency, Dr. AlGhatrif had a concurrent appointment as a researcher at the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Science at the NIA/NIH, which he continues to carry.

Following his residency, Dr. AlGhatrif joined the CIMS faculty. His current academic interests include arterial stiffness, arterial-ventricular coupling, and heart failure with preserved systolic function. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Aging and Health and a reviewer for a number of journals in the field of cardiovascular aging. He also is a member of the American College of Physicians, North American Artery Society and the American Heart Association.
