Light the Labyrinth

Johns Hopkins Bayview's inaugural Light the Labyrinth celebration will be held Thursday, December 6, 2011, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Each donor to the event will have the opportunity to place a candle on the labyrinth in honor or in memory of friends, family and community members, or to celebrate a momentous occasion, such as a birth. As each candle is added, the labyrinth’s light will grow until this sacred space is completely aglow.

Come support this special event by honoring someone who has made a difference in your life. The event will take place on Johns Hopkins Bayview’s own unique space—the labyrinth (in case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Asthma & Allergy Center). Festivities will include live entertainment, arts and craft vendors, holiday lights and refreshments.
 

Support a Good Cause

Proceeds from the event benefit the Johns Hopkins Bayview Fund, which provides funding for those areas in greatest need at the Medical Center. These include programs such as our mobile health unit, medical and recreational needs for seniors, burn prevention programs and health education in the community.
 

What is a Labyrinth?

Our labyrinth, established with a grant from the TKF Foundation in 2000, provides Johns Hopkins Bayview patients, visitors, employees and community members with a peaceful, meditative and healing space. 

For thousands of years, labyrinths have served in many world cultures as symbols of hope, healing and spirit. Many who walk these paths say they discover a sense of deep peace and hope.

Johns Hopkins Bayview’s spiral walking course is unusual in its design in that it leads into the center and back out. There are no dead ends or false turns.
