As you decide when, what and how you want to support the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, you are entitled to a "donor's bill of rights." As a donor, you have the right to: - know our mission, how we use your gifts and our capacity to use them for their intended purpose;
- know the identity of members of our governing board;
- receive our most recent financial statements;
- assume your gifts will be used as you direct;
- be acknowledged and recognized appropriately or remain anonymous;
- rest assured information about your gifts is handled with respect and confidentiality;
- expect any contact with Hopkins Bayview development staff will be professional and ethical at all times;
- be informed when fund-raisers are staff, volunteers or paid solicitors from a firm engaged for a specific project {staff and solicitors do not receive commissions or finder's fees);
- expect that your donor records will not be rented or shared with external organizations; and
- be comfortable asking questions about your contribution and to expect prompt, truthful answers.
*Adapted from the Donor Bill of Rights developed by the American Association of Fund Raising Counsel (AAFRC), the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE). Many staff members, patients, friends and neighbors contribute annual cash gifts each year to help Hopkins Bayview medical care, patient and community services and research. These gifts are vital to us as we work to meet current needs. Major gifts generally involve a special donor commitment of his or her resources in the form of a pledge, payable over several years. They are often designated for an endowment, a building fund or a campaign for special projects and programs. In appreciation for donor support and to acknowledge our gratitude, giving societies have been established to recognize our important friends. Circle of Friends Members support the many hallmark programs at Hopkins Bayview, qualifying annually with cumulative gifts of $250 or more. Bayview Society Society members have contributed an accumulated minimum total of $5,000 to Hopkins Bayview. Permanent, lifetime membership represents a substantial commitment to our community for the most advanced health care possible. Third Century Associates Members are friends who have named Hopkins Bayview as a beneficiary of their will or estate plans. The name celebrates our founding in 1773. We recognize planned gift intentions are very personal. Special care is taken to insure that your wishes will be followed. |
