Diagnostic technology includes many procedures including: digital fluoroscopic studies (of the gastro intestinal tract), kidney radiographs, chest and extremity x-ray exams. Exams are available twenty four hours a day to those in need. One DR room and one CR room adjacent to the emergency department and three rooms in the main department ensure patients are efficiently seen. Only licensed professionals with extensive training in their specialty perform diagnostic procedures. Johns Hopkins Bayview constantly strives to provide an environment that supports professional development and focuses on customers needs.
Some exams require preparation prior to the studies. Gastrointestinal tract exams require fasting or laxatives. Kidney studies require kidney function tests. Patients also should ensure that their primary physicians are aware that they are or may be pregnant.
Modern x-ray equipment, which is upgraded regularly, is used to perform studies.
