ICT Applications

Brain images taken by the iCTICT technology has applications for neurological, spinal and other surgeries. For example, the iCT is used during stereotactic procedures, tumor resection, craniomaxillofacial surgery, pedicle screw and implant placement, vertebroplasty and spinal traumatology. It also can be used in orthopedic surgeries such as hip and pelvic fracture repair, as well as for endoprosthetics, kidney stone surgery and cancerous tumor removal.

Some of the surgical procedures that benefit from the iCT technology include:

  • Cervical laminectomy with fusion
  • Cervico-thoracic fusion with instrumentation
  • Occiput to cervical fusion for basilar invagination
  • Atlanto-axial fusion for rheumatoid arthritis
  • Thoracic decompression and fusion (for thoracic metastatic disease, thoracic primary bone tumor, thoracic spondylosis)
  • Thoracic transpedicular diskectomy and fusion
  • Anterior thoracic corpectomy and fusion
  • Posterior costo-transversectomy approach for thoracic corpectomy, cage placement and fusion
  • Lumbar decompression and instrumented fusion
  • Retroperitoneal approach for lumbar corpectomy and fusion
  • Thoraco-pelvic fusion for degenerative scoliosis
  • Subdural hematoma evacuation
  • Craniotomy for intracerebral hemorrhage evacuation
  • Insertion of ventriculoperitoneal shunt
  • Insertion of intraventricular catheter
  • Stereotactic intracerebral hematoma aspiration
  • Stereotactic brain biopsy
  • Transsphenoidal pituitary tumor resection
  • Craniotomy for brain tumor
  • Instrumented spinal fusion
