August 18, 2006 Allegis Group employees recently stepped up to a company challenge and made a $5,000 donation to the Johns Hopkins Burn Center at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
The gift was the result of a corporate program to promote wellness. Employees of Allegis Group, a staffing-solution company in Hanover, Maryland, participated in STRIVESTEPS, a company-sponsored exercise program. By tracking their steps on pedometers, employees competed individually and as teams to accumulate the most steps. Winners were awarded the opportunity to make a $5,000 gift from Allegis Group to the charity of their choice. The Johns Hopkins Burn Center was the selected recipient charity of the "Workers’ Comp Crew." The "crew," which included Myra Griffin (team captain), Kellie Batz, Heather Bonney, Chaz Hartley, Stacy Terry and Irene Wilson, logged more than 1.1 million steps during the 8-week program. Mary Clark, RN, BSN, of the burn center, and Tom Malstrom, the Medical Center’s director of development, visited Allegis Group on July 28, 2006, to accept the gift and share information about the burn center’s programs. |
