Merhan Habibi, M.D., surgical oncology, has received a three-year appointment from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) as cancer liaison physician for the cancer program at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
In this role, Dr. Habibi will spearhead CoC initiatives within the cancer program at the Medical Center; collaborate with local agencies, such as the American Cancer Society; and facilitate quality improvement initiatives utilizing data submitted to the CoC’s National Cancer Database. He joins a national network of more than 1,600 volunteer physicians who are responsible for providing leadership and direction to establish maintain and support their facilities’ cancer program.
Dr. Habibi joined the surgical oncology team at Johns Hopkins Bayview in August 2007. He is a fellowship-trained, board-certified surgical oncologist who see patients for all aspects of cancer surgery, especially breast, thyroid and minimally invasive colorectal cancer. Dr. Habibi has significant interest in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with malignant diseases.
