Steven J. Kravet, M.D., MBA, FACP, has been named president of Johns Hopkins Community Physicians (JHCP). He will begin his new position on February 23.
Dr. Kravet currently serves as the medical director for ambulatory services and deputy director for clinical activities within the department of medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview. He will continue to see patients through June and then plans to transition his patient practice to a JHCP site.
Dr. Kravet began his career with Johns Hopkins more than 16 years ago, when he completed his training and residency in general internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview. Since then, he has served as assistant chief of service, medical director for the internal medicine faculty practice and division director of the hospitalist service, to name a few.
During his tenure, Dr. Kravet has made significant contributions to the Medical Center and within the department of medicine. As medical director of Bayview Medical Offices, he helped oversee the growth of the hospital’s outpatient operation. In his role as deputy director for clinical activities, Dr. Kravet assumed campus-wide leadership roles in quality improvement, serving as chair of the quality and patient safety committee, and chief medical officer for patient safety and quality.
Dr. Kravet’s scholastic achievements reflect his experience in leading initiatives to improve the health care system through computerized physician order entry, facilitating interdisciplinary communication and learning, and enhancing quality and safety. He has collaborated nationally and internationally on practice improvement, and has developed effective educational programs. Additionally, Dr. Kravet has utilized his experience in healthcare administration to teach and role model effective physician leadership.
