(February 23, 2005) Hopkins Bayview is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary R. Shapiro, M.D., as the director of oncology. Before joining Bayview, Dr. Shapiro served as the medical director of both the oncology programs and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also was an associate professor and head of medical oncology and hematology at the Milwaukee Campus of the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Dr. Shapiro received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and his M.D. from George Washington University. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Shapiro also completed a fellowship in hematology at Northwestern University and a fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Minnesota. He did additional postgraduate work in medical ethics at the University of Chicago and Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Dr. Shapiro is certified by the American Board of Medical Oncology and American Board of Internal Medicine. His specialty interests include geriatric oncology. What's New Index
