(May 18, 2005) Johns Hopkins Bayview's Center for Addiction and Pregnancy (CAP) and its pediatric clinic earned a 2005 Child-Health Promotion Award in April from the Maryland Childhood Immunization Partnership. The award was announced at an April 27 luncheon during National Infant Immunization Week that featured Maryland First Lady Kendel Ehrlich as the keynote speaker. "Immunizations are among the most important things parents can do for their children," says Mrs. Ehrlich. "Families should rely on health-care providers to help them make the best decisions for their child's health." On April 30, Peter Bielenson, M.D., medical officer for the Baltimore City Health Department, recognized CAP for providing outstanding medical care to children. He noted that CAP's immunization rate was one of the highest in the city. Says Vickie Walters, CAP's director, "Dr. Bielenson noted in his speech that CAP was a wonderful example of a substance abuse program with a multidisciplinary pediatric component to insure optimum medical care, parenting information, developmental assessments and case management (for substance-abusing women and their children)." Congratulations to the CAP team on these outstanding accomplishments! What's New Index
