| | | | | | | October 10, 2005 The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center announces the appointment of Deborah Krum Douglas, M.D., as chief of pathology. Dr. Douglas is an assistant professor of pathology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Douglas comes to Hopkins Bayview from Blue Ridge Pathologists in Fishersville, Virginia, where she served as an anatomic and clinical pathologist. Prior to that, she was the medical director for hospital transfusion services at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, California, as well as a pathologist for the Diagnostic Pathology Medical Group, Inc. She has also served on several boards, including the Board of Directors for Mercy Healthcare Sacramento and the scientific advisory board of the Sacramento Medical Foundation Blood Center. Dr. Douglas earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her M.D. from the University of California at San Francisco. She completed a residency in internal medicine and anatomic pathology at the University of California at San Francisco and a residency in clinical pathology at the University of Virginia Medical Center, where she also was a fellow in blood banking and chief resident of clinical pathology. Dr. Douglas is certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology. A recipient of numerous awards, Dr. Douglas received the quality excellence award for best practices twice from Mercy Healthcare Sacramento, as well as outstanding female graduate of her medical class. In addition to being a reviewer for Practical Reviews of Pathology, Dr. Douglas is the legislative liaison for the College of American Pathology. Dr. Douglas began her career as medical director of the Chesapeake Region of the American Red Cross Blood Services in Baltimore. She has maintained her ties to Harvard University by chairing the Schools and Scholarships Committee of the Harvard Club of Sacramento. |
