The Mirmiran Foundation Supports Johns Hopkins Bayview

February 5, 2007

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center officials are pleased to announce that local businessman and philanthropist, Fred F. Mirmiran, and his family recently presented a $25,000 gift to the Medical Center.

Mirmiran is the president and chief executive officer of Johnson, Mirmiran and Thompson (JMT), a civil engineering firm based in Baltimore County. JMT has a professional staff of more than 475 employees in 12 offices throughout the eastern United States. Mr. Mirmiran serves on a number of charitable, educational, and community boards. Last year, the Maryland chapter of the American Red Cross named him philanthropist of the year.

“I was so impressed with what I saw and proud of the work being done by everyone, including Dr. Nikoomanesh,” said Mr. Mirmiran, following a recent tour of Johns Hopkins Bayview. Mirmiran, who immigrated to the United States in 1959, was a high school classmate in his native Iran of Parviz Nikoomanesh, M.D., clinical and endoscopy director at Johns Hopkins Bayview. “We can give gifts, big or small, but Dr. Nikoomanesh has talent to make life better . . . to save lives”

“We thank Mr. Mirmiran, his wife, Farideh, and son, Arshia, for their generosity and commitment to improve the quality of health care in our community,” said Gregory F. Schaffer, president of Johns Hopkins Bayview.  “Dr. Nikoomanesh is one of Hopkins Bayview’s finest physicians. We are proud of him and grateful for the Mirmiran Foundation’s support.”
