Christopher Earley, M.B., B.Ch., Ph.D., associate director of the Johns Hopkins Sleep Disorders Center, has been awarded the 2007 Sleep Science Award by the American Academy of Neurology in recognition of his leadership in researching restless leg syndrome (RLS).
RLS is thought to affect up to ten percent of the elderly population. Earley was cited by the Academy for his work defining the nature and extent of the disease. He also has shown that CNS iron deficiency is the proximate cause of RLS.
