Pat Letke-Alexander Receives Russo Memorial Award

June 12, 2007

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center announces the recognition of Patricia Letke-Alexander, physician assistant, by the Baltimore City Health Department. Letke-Alexander received the Dr. Sebastian Russo Memorial Award for her dedication to the Care-A-Van, Johns Hopkins Bayview’s mobile clinic.

Since 1999, when the Care-A-Van made its first appearance to the Southeast Baltimore community, Letke-Alexander has been a driving force in its success. She sees the Care-A-Van, which provides treatment, prevention, education and maternal child health, as an opportunity to impact the lives of those who have no medical insurance or are underserved.

"Through her dedication and hard work, Pat has exceeded expectations in every facet of this clinical care delivery model. She has a profound commitment to the care of the underserved population in southeast Baltimore," says Michael Crocetti, M.D., director of pediatrics. "She understands the barriers that these individuals face when seeking health care and she is always devising ways to deliver care in the most optimal meaningful way."

The memorial award honors Dr. Sebastian Russo, a Baltimore City family physician known for his tireless and devoted service to his patients. Over his long career, Dr. Russo exemplified a commitment to reducing barriers to health care access. Any health care doctor, nurse, physician’s assistant or other health professional practicing in Baltimore City may be nominated for the award.
