Michelle Mielke, Ph.D., assistant professor of Psychiatry and new member of the Johns Hopkins Bayview Department of Psychiatry research team, was recently named one of 10 recipients of the prestigious International Junior Investigator Award by the International College of Geriatric Psychoneuropharmacology (ICGP).
Mielke earned the award because of her research to identify potential serum biomarkers for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. According to the chairman of the ICGP award committee, Mielke's research "could have substantial impact on the field."
The awards were handed out at the annual ICGP meeting in San Diego in early November. Applicants for the award must have an academic track record in the field of geriatric psychoneuropharmacology, been published in some peer reviewed journals and be not more than eight years past the completion of their terminal degree and no higher than the assistant professor level.
