Herbs & Spices

add flavor to foods without fat or salt

Tips for using herbs & spices:
Use fresh herbs & spices when possible.
Crumble dried herbs to release flavor.
When adding herbs & spices to cold recipes, refrigerate for a few hours to allow the food to absorb the flavor.
When using dried herbs in a recipe instead of fresh herbs, use 1/2 tsp. of dried herbs = 1 tablespoon of the fresh herb.
See the table below for suggestions on using herbs and spices in your favorite recipes.

Tips for storing herbs & spices:
Do not wash fresh herbs & spices until ready to use.
Store dried herbs & spices in a cool, dark, dry place.
Keep powdered herbs & spices for 1 year.
