General Obstetrics

Expecting a child is a long journey, full of changes, surprises and miracles. The Department of Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Bayview is based on a comprehensive program of care, from conception through delivery and beyond.

An expert team, made up of dedicated physicians, certified nurses and mid-wives, and other health care professionals, carries mothers through their first trimesters to the journey home with their new babies. Specialized obstetrical services also are available, including:

High-risk expectant mothers are carefully monitored during pregnancy and delivery to minimize complications. The comprehensive Fetal Assessment Center at Johns Hopkins Bayview offers the latest in high-risk testing and monitoring.
