Biography
Andrew J. Satin, M.D., FACOG, chair of obstetrics and gynecology at Johns Hopkins Bayview, earned a medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda and completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.
Before joing Johns Hopkins Bayview, Dr. Satin was professor and chair of the Uniformed Services University F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He also served as an attending physician at both the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Satin holds several national leadership positions, including director of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Maternal- Fetal Medicine and chair of American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Committee for Document Review. He has served on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Residency Review Committee, the Editorial Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and also is a reviewer for many journals in obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine. Dr. Satin has published in numerous journals and written textbook chapters. His current research interests include exercise in pregnancy, simulation and labor stimulation.
Dr. Satin is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine.
