Pelvic floor dysfunction is a term applied to a broad collection of conditions affecting the pelvic organs. These include urinary incontinence, neuro-urologic disorders, pelvic organ prolapse, fecal incontinence, defecatory dysfunction and inflammatory bowel disorders. While they affect both men and women, they are generally more common in women.
The Johns Hopkins Women's Center for Pelvic Health treats a variety of pelvic floor disorders and offers both surgical and non-surgical treatments. Members of the multidisciplinary team are sensitive to the needs of women with pelvic floor disorders. The Center includes doctors and therapists with different areas of expertise and offers compassionate care with access to the latest therapies. Our specialists include experts in urogynecology, urology, gynecology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and general surgery.
