Michele A. Shermak, M.D., FACS, chief
A native of Baltimore, Dr. Shermak earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and was the first to finish a combined residency program in general and plastic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Board Certified in Plastic Surgery, and is an active member in the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and the Plastic Surgery Research Council (PSRC).
After completing her plastic surgery training, Dr. Shermak went on to pursue further specialized training in aesthetic, breast, and body contouring surgery under the direction of Dr. G. Patrick Maxwell in Nashville. There she learned the latest techniques in body contouring surgery, including: liposuction; body lifts; and facial rejuvenation surgery, including laser resurfacing, facial peels, endoscopic surgery, and face lifts. Dr. Shermak has become nationally known for her work with body lifting procedures and her work with surgical weight loss patients. She is on the national Bariatric Task Force of the ASPS and has authored many publications on the topic of body contouring for massive weight loss, particularly focusing on safety issues.
Dr. Shermak is an Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Scott Lifchez, M.D.
Scott D. Lifchez, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois. Dr. Lifchez trained in plastic surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin and trained in hand surgery at the Curtis Hand Center in Baltimore.

Monica Chetelat, PA-C
Monica Chetelat, PA-C, is the most recent addition to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Division of Plastic Surgery. Ms. Chetelat, a Baltimore native, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland at College Park, where she served as president for the Phi Alpha Epsilon Honorary and was honored as the Senior Marshall among her graduating class. She was also the recipient of the Lester Holmes Award for the College of Health and Human Performance, the most prestigious honor in the college. Monica earned her Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies from Towson University. During this time, she researched and developed a pilot program, in conjunction with Baltimore County Public Schools, aimed at curbing childhood obesity. Ms. Chetelat is extraordinarily excited to join the plastic surgery team and further explore her interests in both reconstructive and hand surgery. In her spare time, Monica loves to share her passion for contemporary dance, play on her co-ed kickball team in Federal Hill, and spend time with family and friends.
Jessie E. Mallalieu, MS, PA-C
Jessie E. Mallalieu, MS, PA-C, graduated from Grove City College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology. She then attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she earned her Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Upon graduation, she spent three years as part of a private practice, performing outpatient cosmetic laser surgery and aesthetic procedures, while also providing primary medical care. She joined the Division of Plastic Surgery at Bayview Medical Center in January of 2007. She is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.
