Community Psychiatry Program at Johns Hopkins Bayview

The Community Psychiatry Program at The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is one of the major providers of psychiatric services in Maryland. Care is available to patients regardless of geographical area of residence, although most live in eastern Baltimore City and southeastern Baltimore County. An array of psychiatric and related services are offered to persons ranging in age from very young children to the elderly and are provided in the least restrictive setting possible. A combination of outpatient clinics, day hospital programs, mobile treatment, and on-site school programs strive to increase the access of the community to quality psychiatric care.

Crisis and emergency services are also available during workday hours and on a 24-hour basis in the Johns Hopkins Bayview Emergency Room. The Community Psychiatry Program coordinates services with Baltimore Crisis Response, Inc., an outside agency that provides community-based crisis intervention and residential services. We also coordinate services with the Baltimore City Child and Adolescent Crisis Response System.

Fees are based on a sliding scale. Medical Assistance, Medicare and certain private insurances are accepted. People with HMOs need to contact their HMO for a mental health referral to a network provider. Community Psychiatry is not a part of any HMO network.
