Biography
Mark D. Duncan, M.D., FACS, associate professor of surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, earned a degree in molecular biology at Northwestern University and a medical degree at Mayo Medical School (Mayo Clinic). He received general surgical training and completed a surgical research fellowship investigating gastrointestinal disease and growth factors, at the Georgetown University Medical Center. Before joining Johns Hopkins, Duncan served on the surgical faculty at the Georgetown University Medical Center and the Washington D.C. Veteran's Administration Hospital.
Specializing in gastrointestinal surgery and surgical oncology, including surgery of the esophagus, stomach, intestine, colon, rectum, gall bladder and pancreas, Duncan is director of surgical oncology at Johns Hopkins Bayview. He also works in coordination with urologic and gynecologic surgery, performing major resections of complex pelvic cancers.
Duncan focuses on research related to gastrointestinal cancer and has received grant support for investigations on esophageal and gastic cancer.
