Are You at Risk for Vascular Disease?

Vascular Screenings Can Save Your Life

Vascular disease is a leading cause of stroke, death, and limb amputation in the United States today. This is particularly dangerous in many people because the disorder generally goes undetected until a life-changing medical event occurs.

Non-invasive vascular ultrasound screenings have been proven to accurately detect evidence of these diseases. Once identified, vascular surgeons can intervene and successfully treat disease to prevent stroke, loss of limbs or loss of life. People who should consider screenings are those 55 years or older with cardiovascular risk factors such as a history of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking, high cholesterol, known cardiovascular disease or a family history of abdominal aortic aneurysm.

The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center's Vascular Laboratory is now offering these life-saving screenings at a reduced rate.

Non-invasive testing will be performed by a registered vascular technologist using state-of-the-art equipment and the results will be reviewed by a Johns Hopkins Bayview skilled vascular surgeon.

A final report will be sent to the patient as well as to their primary care physician.

For more information or to schedule your screening, please call 410-550-VLAB (8522).
