 Individualized Treatment

Using advanced technologies and interventions, the physicians and staff at the Wound Center can effectively treat the most difficult wounds and manage the individual needs of every patient. What matters most is that patients quickly get back on the road to recovery–and back to their productive lives.

At the Wound Center, care and treatment consist of:

  • Full diagnostic evaluation
  • Individualized plans of care developed in conjunction with the patient (or his or her designee) and the multidisciplinary team
  • Appropriate communication with referring physicians to insure continuity of care
  • Weekly rounds with wound team physicians and medical staff
  • Evidence-based practice, validated by research
  • Referral to other medical, surgical or rehabilitation services, as needed

The Wound Center treats complex, non-healing wound cases including:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous statis ulcers
  • Arterial ulcers
  • Ulcers secondary to immunologic disorders, including vasculitis, rheumatologic disease, inflammatory bowel disease, etc.
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Bone infections (osteomyelitis)
  • Soft-tissue infections
  • Post-acute burns
  • Surgical wounds
  • Fistula management
  • Gangrene

Treatment plans include:

  • Comprehensive prevention program
  • Sharp and surgical debridements
  • Chemical and mechanical debridements
  • Compression wraps
  • Negative pressure therapy
  • Advanced wound care products designed to provide the optimum healing environment
  • Topical hyperbaric oxygen
  • Provision of health aids, including referral for shoes, beds, cushions, etc.
  • Liaison to communicate with various home care agencies to insure that therapy is outstanding in the home, drugs and dressings are obtained and time consuming visits to the center can be minimized
